Macworld '09 and the new unibody 17" MacBook Pro

by Vijay Kiran

Except for the new unibody 17″ MBP, the other three announcements (iLife ’09, iWork ’09 and iTunes DRM Free Music) were not pleasing the mac fans out there. I still skeptical about the new MacBook Pro, given that I’m very happy with my current one. I don’t want to upgrade at least for the next 6 months. I want to see the reveiws and how the new MBP is going to perform/feel in the real world before I make the leap. I’m a bit skeptical about the Glossy Screen/Anti Glare option though.

I really don’t want to get a glossy screen notebook, most of the times, I work with Code (80%) and reamining 20% of the time, I tweak my photos in Aperture, play movies etc. The glossy screen is just distracting when reading especially in a well lit environment.  I hope the anti-glare option will make things better.

And the keynote was kind of boring, partly because of Phil Schiller. Obviously he doesn’t have the showman skill/charisma of Steve Jobs. Also Apple said that this is going be the last MacWorld they are going to be part of.
